Before You Build
Short, and written to be read rather than skipped. Last changed 31 July 2026.
One person, trading as Before You Build. You can reach me at the address in the footer, and a real person answers. There is no help desk and no phone line.
Nothing here is refundable. Not the files, not the work done by hand, not the membership. Please decide before you pay, not after.
For the downloads that's because you get them the instant the payment clears. There's no way to give them back — you've read them by then. By buying, you're asking for them to be delivered straight away and giving up any cooling-off period you would otherwise have had.
For the work done by hand it's because it starts as soon as your brief arrives and it's made for you specifically. If the first pass misses, tell me what's wrong and I'll fix it — that round of changes is included in the price. What I won't do is hand your money back.
Before you buy anything, open the free example. It's the real output of the kit, it costs nothing, and it's the honest way to find out whether this is for you.
It renews every month until you stop it. Cancel from the link in any Stripe receipt and it stops at the end of the month you've paid for — you keep access until then. Part-months aren't refunded, and neither is a month you forgot to cancel.
Use them on as many of your own projects as you like, at work or at home, and change them however you want. Your team can use your copy.
What you can't do is resell them, publish them, or fold them into something you sell as a kit of instructions. The output they help you produce is entirely yours — pages, specs, copy, whatever you make with them. It's the source files themselves that stay mine.
Two working days from the moment your brief arrives, one round of changes included. Send a description of the feature and either a link or a few screenshots. I don't need access to your code and I'd rather not have it.
Anything you send me stays private. I won't show your brief, your screenshots or the page I make for you to anyone else without asking you first.
The page you get is yours to keep, share and publish. If your brief turns out to be something I can't do well, I'll tell you before starting and cancel the order without charging — that's the one case where money goes back, because no work happened.
These are instructions for a language model. Models change, and what works well today may work differently on the next release. I keep the kits current for members, but I can't promise a particular result from a particular model on a particular day.
Nothing here is legal, financial or professional advice about your business. If a Build Card says a feature is a bad idea, that's an opinion produced by a tool you're driving, not a guarantee.
Stripe takes the payment and holds the card details. They never reach this site and I never see them. Stripe gives me your email address and what you bought, and I use it to send you your files and to answer you. I don't sell it, and there's no mailing list to be added to.
Download links work for a week. If yours expires, reply to your receipt and I'll send a fresh one.
Email me first. Most problems are a broken link and take a minute to fix.
If it comes to a dispute, my liability is capped at what you paid. This is a small operation selling small things; that cap is the only way it can exist.
If I change these terms, the version you bought under is the one that applies to your purchase. Changes aren't retroactive.
